TACK SWAP – Deb Carver is heading up the committee to run our first “Used Tack and Mini-Horse Fair” this spring (if it ever comes). In addition to and opportunity to dispose of that weird device that was supposed to make Old Dobbin a model steed and get some good stuff, Deb would like to run demonstrations and horse and trailer sales. The event would promote JCHC, local horse related businesses and just be fun. Of course, she will need help with this, so please sign on. Ideally, you can come to the organizational dinner at the Penland’s on February 10 at 6pm, but that is not a volunteer requirement. Call Deb at 303-674-6546 or email carverd10@msn.com to sign on and get more info.

JANUARY MEETING – We actually managed to pull off a reasonable well-attended meeting at Beau Jo’s on January 25. This was the first of our fourth Thursday meetings, and we encountered no problems with weather or parking. Dan and Beth Lincoln presented a program on exotic horseback trips to Zimbabwe, France and India. As soon as you are ready to go, call Beth.

FEBRUARY MEETING – Dr. Ashleigh Olds, DVM has just opened Aspen Creek Large Animal Clinic in Conifer. Dr. Ashleigh, late of the Golden Animal Hospital, has extensive expertise in treatment of equine dentistry, lameness, surgery, radiology and emergency care. She will come to the February 22nd meeting to talk to us about care of horses in winter and whatever else comes up. This will be a good opportunity to find out about this new mountain resource. You will rarely get the chance to quiz a vet over beer and pizza, so please take advantage of the opportunity.

MEMBERSHIP – Dues are Do!  Please fill out the attached membership form and return as soon as possible so Sandy can process them.  Thank you!
